Whether you are planning on a move or just doing some cleaning around the apartment, there are likely some cleaning items you have that need to be thrown out or replaced. Check out this helpful list of things that you have that either need to be tossed or replaced because they are probably making your apartment dirtier every time you use them.
Toilet Cleaning Brushes
Toilet brushes are a relatively inexpensive cleaning item that gets used to clean one of the dirtiest things in your apartment. If you can’t remember the last time these have been replaced, it is absolutely time to throw yours out and get new ones. The nature of this cleaning tool and the fact that it’s likely kept right next to the toilet means that it is a breeding ground for germs and bacteria. Go get yourself a new toilet cleaning brush; it has probably been too long.
Small Trash Cans
Even though they make liners for the small trash cans, it doesn’t mean you have been using them. If you have been using liners in these, congrats, you are one of the few people on earth who do! Liners or no liners, you should check the inside of these trash cans for dirt and grime that build up over time. If they are quite dirty, it’s time to toss them and get new ones.
Kitchen Trash Can
You probably line this one with bags, but it is still bound to get dirty. If you haven’t cleaned this in a while, you probably should soon. If you notice there is a lot of dirt in your kitchen trash can, it may be worth replacing.
Mop Heads
You clean the dirt off of your floors with the mop head which means it is probably extremely dirty. You could wash them in the washing machine, but if you’ve been doing this and still not getting them clean, get a new one. You can’t clean a dirty floor with a dirty mop.
Old Cleaning Products
Chances are you have a whole shelf in your closet dedicated to cleaning products, but how many of them do you actually use regularly? Many cleaning products expire after two years, so start by tossing everything that is old. Next, look for things that have gone bad, like a jar of powder cleaner that has since become so hard and compacted that you can no longer use it.
Soap Dispensers That No Longer Work
After some time, your soap dispensers will likely clog with dried-out soap and stop working as they should. Whether this means shooting out soap everywhere but your hands or becoming hard to push down, it is likely time to swap these out for some new ones.
Old Brooms
Brooms stop working as well after years of use. If you have a broom with messed-up bristles or just won’t sweep your floor clean anymore, it’s time to replace it.
Replace Your Cleaning Supplies Regularly
It is so hard to clean something when the thing you’re cleaning it with is dirty. For the best results, it is advised to regularly replace your essential cleaning tools.
