Raj Thapa, Bhim Rai, Gopal BC, and Bidur Kafle gathered together to talk about a restaurant with an aspiration to serve only the best authentic Himalayan and Indian food. Three years later, on Monday, July 1, 2019, Himalayan Sherpa Kitchen was open for business. These four men, originally from Nepal, have a combined experience of over twenty years in restaurants and hospitality. Executive chef Bhim Rai has twenty-one years of experience under his belt and is proud to serve gourmet Nepali, Thakali, Newari, Tibetan, and Indian food. The restaurant’s name is a reference to Evette “Teta” AbouJamra, the owner’s grandmother.
